Coffee shops are lucky for Hollywood's most sought-after actress Sarah Roemer. She was buying a coffee at a local 7-Eleven coffee shop on her way to High School when she was spotted by a scout for a modelling agency.
What started as an offer to a 16-year-old schoolgirl has ended in her being represented by L.A. Models, based in Los Angeles and Fashion Model Management which is located in Milan.
She got her first major film role as Rachel in an independent film "Wristcutters - a Love Story" by being noticed in a coffee house by her soon-to-be Manager and a casting agent who complemented both her and the cute dog she had with her.
Although she has been featured in a number of magazines and was the cover model of the Summer 2004 Sportswear International fashion magazine, she remains down-to-earth and likes to dress casually in jeans and flip-flops, saying she could not be without her mobile phone or the internet.
Her favourite artists are Fiona Apple and David Bowie and she thinks she is the only person in California who enjoys country music. She is totally unsophisticated and enjoys horse riding and surfing.
An article about her in a 2007 issue of Natural Health Magazine was called "So Easy Summer Beauty" and written by the Beauty and Fashion Editor Megan O'Connell. Roemer was featured modelling clothes, make-up or jewellery on every page alongside a brief set of beauty tips.
The same year she was featured in the Spring issue of "Nylon Guys" Magazine in an article "Model Behaviour" in which she talked about modelling in Milan, shooting "The Grudge 2" and her previous acting experience.
Her rise to fame in the acting world came quickly and in 2010 she starred in an independent thriller "Locked In" playing Emma Sawyer whose daughter is in a coma. It was released straight to DVD but went round the festivals and was one of the entries in the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
She also co-starred as Andy, the daughter of a professor played by Richard Gere in "Hachi - A Dog's Story" and played Madison in "Waking Madison", which is yet to be released.
She still laughs about her first screen kiss which was with Shia LaBeouf in "Disturbia". She says she felt a little bit awkward as the director was so close but, she enjoyed it. At the time LaBeou told her it was his first screen kiss too, to put her at her ease but, she later found out that was not true.
She can currently be seen in the NBC drama "The Event" as Leila Buchanan which was premiered on September 20th 2010 and she also stars in another independent film, a romantic comedy "The Con Artist" playing Kristen which also stars Donald Sutherland and Rebecca Romijn.
