|Blake Lively Biography|
It is not at all surprising Blake Lively has become a big star as she comes from a large family of thespians. Born in Tarzana Los Angeles both her father Ernie and her mother Elaine were actors. Her elder half-sister Robyn played the lead role in the 1989 cult comedy "Teen Witch".
Her older brother Eric was in the film "American Pie" and her half-brother Jason was in "Dukes of Hazard."
During her childhood her parents would take her to the acting classes they taught because they did not want to leave her with a babysitter and she has always said watching her parents teach helped her to learn the drills of acting and gain confidence.
She felt she grew up in Disneyland as her mother took her there twice a week as it gave the two of them extra time to bond.
Before she was an actress her mother was a model and she encouraged her daughter to take an interest in clothes from an early age. She would sew clothes for Blake and dress her in garments from boutiques and vintage stores. She also tailored adult clothes to fit her but her actions caused Blake a lot of unhappiness.
When she was in second grade at a private school in Los Angeles she did not fit in and she said, "It was the only school where people were downright rude to me. They would make fun of my clothes because I was dressed differently to other kids."
But the cruel remarks of the school children has not diminished her love of fashion. She loves Christian Louboutin shoes so much she recently bought 40 pairs on one shopping trip. With flat shoes starting at $150 and heels at $225, she spent over $9,000 on the shoes.
She insisted they were not all for her saying "I have sisters so I got some for them and some for my friends, although quite a few were for me."
Originally she was not interested in acting but during the summer between her junior and senior years her brother Eric made his agent send her out to auditions. She was cast in the role of Bridget in "The Sisterhood of Travelling Pants", with her real father playing her father in the film. She filmed her scenes between her junior and senior years at Burbank High School.
At the age of 11-years-old she appeared in the 1998 film "Sandman" directed by her father, which she described as a "bit part."
She rose to fame when she was cast to play Serena Van der Woodsen in the TV drama "Gossip Girl" which is now in its fourth season. She has said the series has helped her overcome her shyness and she has become bolder and braver since she got the part.
She dated her "on-screen" boyfriend Penn Badgley for three years and they seemed a very secure couple. So her fans were shocked when they announced they had grown apart and were ending their relationship in September 2010. But they have remained good friends and work together happily on "Gossip Girl".
Since November 2009 she has shared her life with a small copper-colour Maltipoo dog called Penny. Lively admits she never diets and has never worked out in her life, but she does worry about her looks and weight when she is preparing for filming scenes involving revealing clothes.
"I do panic when I have to wear a really skimpy outfit" she said. "I had to do a scene in a bra and shorts for the first time in two years. On the day of the shoot I ate a pork burrito, chips and drank coke. Afterwards I thought "I probably shouldn't have done that".
