Selena Gomez Biography
Selena Gomez has packed a lot into her short life. In October 2008 she launched her own July Moon Productions in partnership with XYZ Films to create star vehicles for herself.
As part of the agreement she can option articles, hire writers and create packages to shop to studios. XYZ Films will also allow her to star and produce at least two films.
2009 was her busiest year, she formed her own teen band "Selena and the Scene" She is the lead vocalist with Ethan Roberts on guitar, Joey Clement on bass, Greg Garman on drums and Dane Forrest on keyboards.
Their debut album was released on September 29th by Hollywood Records and certified Gold on 5th March 2010. The album's single "Naturally" was certified Platinum on 15th July 2010 and the band's 2nd album was released on September 15th 2010 which reached number 4 on Billboard 200 and sold 66,000 copies.
In August 2009 17-year-old Gomez was appointed the youngest ever UNICEF Ambassador and in her first off-field mission she travelled to Ghana on September 4th for a week. She witnessed first-hand the stark conditions of vulnerable children that lack vital necessities including clean water, nourishment, education and healthcare.
At the end of the same busy year she announced she also plans to launch her own fashion line "Dream Out Loud by Selena Gomez".
With her busy life it is not surprising she does not have time for a steady boyfriend, but she enjoys hanging out with her friends like any teenage girl. A regular Catholic churchgoer she started wearing a purity ring, also known as a chastity ring, when she was 12-years-old to signify she would not have sex before marriage.
A self-described "huge animal lover" she owns five rescue dogs and spends as much time as she can looking after them.
Her parents divorced when she was 5-years-old and she was brought up as a single child by her half-Italian actress mother and she developed an interest in acting at an early age watching her mother prepare for and act in theatre productions.
She played Alex Russo on the Emmy award-winning Disney Channel original series "Wizards of Waverly Place" She has also starred in the television movies "Another Cinderella Story" and "Princess Protection Programme".
In 2010 Selena Gomez made her theatrical film debut as Beatrice Beezus Quimby in "Ramona and Beezus" and she has signed a record deal with Hollywood Records and is contributing to the "Tinkerbell" "Another Cinderella Story" and "Wizards of Waverley Place" soundtracks.
On top of all this she managed to earn a High School Diploma in May 2010 by being home-schooled and she is not 19 until 22nd July 2011.
