Lyndsy Fonseca Biography
If Lyndsy Fonseca had not competed in the International Modeling and Talent Association competition in her home-town of Moraga, she might have stayed a "small-town girl" forever.
She was the second runner-up for the "Young Miss Dancer of the Year" and was discovered by a Manager and an Agent. She moved to Los Angeles when she was 12-years-old for her first pilot series and she said it was the best thing she has ever done.
She did not keep in touch with any of her Middle School friends, although she said they were very nice. "I always felt different," she said. "It was like small-town suburbia and I wanted to break out of that kind of environment. I never really felt at home but when I moved to Los Angeles I felt I was at home. Here was a place I could feel passionate about."
Before she went into acting she attended the Barbizon School of Modeling in San Francisco, and she is featured in the success stories section.
Fonseca actually started acting as a teenager in a Community Theatre productions of "Friends" at the Moraga Playhouse in California, and she also appeared in a stage production of "Wizard of Oz."
The year after she moved to L.A she got her breakthrough when she was cast as the troubled teen Colleen Carlton in the CBS number 1 daytime drama "The Young and the Restless." When she was offered a three-year-contract her parents moved the whole family to Los Angeles.
She moved on to play the role as Dylan Mayfair in the popular CBS Daytime soap "Desperate Housewives." Fonseca was supposed to have had a recurring role as a cheerleader in "Heroes" but was cut out due to scheduling conflicts with "Desperate Housewives."
She was nominated for a SAG Award, along with her "Desperate Housewives" cast-mates for an outstanding performance by an Ensemble in a comedy series, and they were nominated again the following year.
She is an accomplished dancer, with tap being her favourite, and she unwinds by taking dance classes when she is not working. She also enjoys walking her pet Lhasa Apso Ronnie, roller-blading, playing soccer and skiing.
Fonseca loves her dog, but she remembers her first pet very well. She was given a cat for her seventh birthday so she called it "Seven."
She was number 62 on the 2010 Maximum Hot 100 in 2010 and she also played Katie Deauxma in the 2010 super-hero film "Kick-Ass." and reprise the role in "Kick-Ass 2" in 2013.
She has had a number of guest spots in television movies and has appeared in two pilots for new shows as well as an independent film.
Lyndsy Fonseca is starring as Alex in CW's action series "Nikita" playing an assassin in training. When she does have time off she never cooks. "I'm the worst cook in the world," she said. "I even make a mess of a bowl of cereal. I'm a real klutz in the kitchen."
