Kristen Stewart Biography
Kristen Stewart attends the 2016 Film Society Of Lincoln Center Luncheon.
The on-screen chemistry between Kristen Stewart and her co-star in "Twilight" Robert Pattinson was steamy and fans thought it was more than acting and they always denied any romance.
But at the 2010 BAFTA party, Pattinson sheepishly admitted the two were indeed an item. Stewart had just been awarded the Orange Rising Star Prize and had been guarded at the dinner by six security guards. In 2012 they split.
She was born on 9th April 1990 into a showbiz family. Her father John is a stage manager and a producer for Fox TV. Her Australian mother Jules Mann-Stewart works as a script adviser.
With that background it was obvious from an early age what her career would be but she had no aspirations to become an actress as she never liked being the centre of attention. She wanted to become a writer/director. But that all changed when an agent spotted her in her elementary school play.
She sent Stewart to various auditions for a year before she was selected to play a non-speaking part in the film, "The 13th Year." She also played the Ring Toss Girl in the Flintstones movie, "The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas."
Stewart's break came when she was cast in a major role in a Hollywood film at the age of 12-years-old. She played Jodie Foster's diabetic daughter in the film "Panic Room" for which she was nominated for an award as "Young Artist of the Year."
It is her role as Bella Swan in the "Twilight" series of films that made her a household name but the 17-year-old Stewart nearly turned it down. She read the synopsis of the story and hated it, saying she did not want to be part of something that presented love as something idyllic to young people. She found the synopsis made Bella very weak, but once she had read the script it was completely different.
"I don't know who wrote the synopsis" she said, "But it wasn't the person who wrote the script, the characters were much stronger in that."
She begged for the chance to audition for the part of Bella and fate does move in mysterious ways. Robert Pattinson who played Edward Bella's love interest barely knew the "Twilight" books. The only reason he wanted to audition was to meet Kristen Stewart as he had seen her work and had a crush on her.
They did such a steamy audition including a raunchy bed scene that a video was released on it when speculation about the couple's relationship was rife but it has since been withdrawn.
Magazines have been full of rumours about whether she and Pattinson have married and whether she is pregnant but she is adamant that she wants to keep her private life private.
She said, "People always ask me if I am dating Robert, it's beyond annoying. What I say is why should I want anything that is private to become entertainment for other people."
She is a very down-to-earth person who is obsessed with cooking. After the release of her film, "New Moon" she was called for jury service in Los Angeles and was on a case which lasted three days. The defendant was accused of soliciting sex from an undercover police officer posing as a prostitute who was found not guilty.
She lives in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles with three dogs, Oz a border collie mix and Jack and Lily who are hybrid wolves and she also has a cat.
She would like to go to Australia where her mother originates from and study literature at Sydney University as she wants to be a writer. She says she loves what she does but does not want to be a liar all her life. She was referring to the various roles she has to play as an actress as she just wants to be herself.
