Katrina Kaif Biography
Although she is a resident of Mumbai, Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif is actually a British citizen.
Born in Hong Kong on 16th July 1984 her father Mohammad Kaif is Indian and her mother Suzanne Turquotte is English, and both her parents are British Citizens.
Her parents divorced when she was young but she still misses him. She has seven siblings and her early life was spent like a gypsy as her family were constantly moving.
From Hong Kong she moved to China, then to Japan. When she was 8-years-old her family travelled from Japan to France by boat. Then they moved to Switzerland, Krakow, Berlin, Belgium and many other East European countries before they moved to Hawaii.
They eventually moved to her mother's home country England where Katrina Kaif stayed just 3 months before she finally moved to live in Mumbai.
She began her modelling career at the age of 14 and her first job was for a jewellery campaign. She continued modelling in London working for Models 1 Agency and did campaigns for houses such as La Senza and Arcadius, she also took part in London Fashion Week.
While she was modelling in London she was discovered by London-based film-maker Kaizad Gustad and he gave her a part in his film "Boom" in 2003.
She moved to Mumbai and was offered a number of modelling assignments but film offers were few because she could not speak Hindi. When she was cast her voice was dubbed by another actress.
Her break-through came in 2007 when she had her first hit movie "Namastey London" where she starred as a British Indian girl alongside Akshay Kumar for the second time. Her run of hit films continued with "Apne, Partner" and "Welcome."
Apart from acting she has had a number of endorsement deals and she is one of the top paid Bollywood actresses.
She has won 14 different Awards between 2006 and 2011 and was nominated for over 11 more. From 2008 to 2010 she was voted the Sexiest Asian Woman in the World by Eastern Eye magazine.
Her love life has gained almost as much publicity as her acting. She was dating one of her co-stars Salman Khan when she met the "love of her life" Indian actor Ranbir Kapoor, who was also dating someone else.
They kept their relationship secret until they got serious and Kapoor obtained his parents' permission to marry Katrina Kaif.
Kaif wanted a commitment to get married within the next two years but Kapoor told her they were still too young.
When he got fed up with her pressurising him he had an affair with his "Rockstar" co-star Nargis Fakhri. He was also linked to another actress and it was his inability to stay faithful to Kaif that led to their break-up.
Khan has also been accused of contributing to the split by openly criticising Kapoor in front of the media. Kaif has also said publicly she wanted Kapoor back and was willing to forgive him if he was willing to mend his ways.
Katrina Kaif has been very busy staring in more films including Agneepath as Chikni Chameli, Ek Tha Tiger playing Zoya and Jab Tak Hai Jaan as Meera in 2012. During 2013 she starred in Dhoom 3 and Dostana 2.
