Emma Roberts is the daughter of actor Eric Roberts and the niece of Julia Roberts and Lisa Roberts Gillan, her parents split up shortly after her birth due to domestic violence, which eventually went to court.
Roberts spent a lot of her childhood on the sets of her Aunt Julia's films, and that sparked an ambition from the age of 5-years-old to follow in her father and her aunt's footsteps.
At the age of 9-years-old she achieved that ambition when she got a part in Ted Demme's 2001 drama "Blow It" from the first film audition she had ever audition for.
In the film she played Kristina Jung, daughter of Johnny Depp's character, cocaine smuggler George Jung. The film was rated 'R' and her mother would not allow her to go and see it until she was 18.
She became a teenage idol at the age of 13 when she played the lead, Annie Singer, in the Nickelodeon television series "Unfabulous" which was first shown in September 2004. The producers had wanted to cast her from the beginning, and the sitcom earned Roberts a Teen Choice Award nomination, and several Young Artist Award nominations.
The show aired for three seasons from 2004-2007, and 42 episodes. The third season ended on December 16th 2007.
Two years later she was named the Brand Ambassador for Neutrogena, she appeared in print and television advertisements for the company. She also appeared many times as part of Teenage Vogue's "Best Dressed List" including June 2007, September 2008, December 2008 and February 2009.
Roberts met Darren Kuppin, a freshman tennis player at UCLA in 2009 and they have been practically inseparable ever since. Kuppin now plays hockey for the university and when they are together they listen to Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Girlicious. Roberts was also a huge fan of the TV show "Lost."
As a child she played a lot of board games, and her hobbies are all artistic. She loves keeping scrapbooks, painting ceramics and making pottery.
She also likes going to the cinema with friends, reading books, writing songs and playing with her little sister. Like all teenagers she also enjoys shopping and hanging out with her family and her boyfriend.
Her debut album "Unfabulous and More" also served as the soundtrack for the Nickelodeon series and launched her solo singing career. She also recorded two songs for the soundtracks of "Ice Princess" and "Aquamarine" in which her Aunt Julia was playing one of the leads.
Although she enjoys singing Roberts wants to concentrate on her acting career, and she played the lead in the film "Nancy Drew". Drew is a talented amateur detective in stories geared to children and teenagers.
