Dannii Minogue Biography
When Kylie was young, it was her younger sister Dannii was the big star in the family.
She was well known in the country of their birth, Australia, from the age of 7-years-old, appearing in the popular soaps "Skyways," and "Home and Away."
At the age of 10 she was a regular on the Australian TV show "Young Talent Time," which Kylie auditioned for. Although her older sister appeared once, she was not asked to join the regular team.
When she was 17 she became a household name in Britain for her role as the rebellious teenage tomboy Emma Jackson in the Australian soap "Home and Away." Both Minogue sisters were appearing in rival soaps, Kylie was in "Neighbours," and making a name for themselves in the UK. Minogue was nominated for a Silver Logie Award as the most popular actress on Australian Television for her part in "Home and Away."
In 1988 she launched her own fashion range "Dannii," having become interested in design when she was on "Young Talent Time." She had designed the clothing she wore on the show, and after her debut range was introduced it sold out in 10 days. She followed it up with three additional lines in 1989.
She launched her career as a pop singer in the early 1990s and she has had numerous hits all over the world. She has won numerous awards for her singing, acting and for her glamorous looks.
She has no inhibitions about showing off her body. To help her get over her marriage break-up on 2005 she posed nude for the Australian edition of Playboy Magazine. She said she found it a really liberating, empowering experience, and the magazine sold out in under 4 days, and became one of the best selling editions in Australia.
In 2004 she posed nude, wrapped only in a red ribbon, to promote World Aids Day in Australia and the UK.
When she was asked to join the fourth series of the X-Factor as a judge Minogue made history. She was mentoring the boys and she had Leon Jackson, Rhydian Roberts and Andy Williams. Two of her three, Jackson and Roberts made the final with Jackson winning on the public vote. Minogue was the first female judge ever to win the show.
Her appearances on X-Factor have sparked controversy due to alleged arguments with the judges, especially Louis, and comments she has made. But she is still there, although she missed the auditions in 2010 as she was on maternity leave, but rejoined the show for the Judges Houses.
Her love life has not run smoothly until now. In the early 1990s she dated rapper Ray Slijngaard, and in January 1994 she married fellow "Home and Away" actor Julian McMahon, whom she had met on show in 1991. The marriage lasted less than two years and Minogue has since said about the break-up that it was her biggest regret and her biggest downfall.
She became engaged to French Canadian Formula One driver Jacques Villeneuve in October 1999 but they broke it off in 2001. The following year she began dating Craig Logan from Bros, and the press reported the couple were engaged. But they have both denied this and their relationship lasted only a matter of months.
In 2008 she met her fiancÚ,model and ex-professional rugby player Kris Smith, and on 15th July 2010 their son Ethan Edward Smith was born by caesarean section.
