Amber Heard Biography
She was named as one of the most beautiful rising stars in 2008 by Jane Magazine and was ranked number 13 in Maxim's Hot 100 Women in the same year.
There was so much speculation about Amber Heard's lovelife that she officially "came out" as a Lesbian in 2010 and attended the 25th Anniversary Celebrations of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation with her then girlfriend, photographer and film-maker Tasya van Roe.
She was born and raised in Austin, Texas and attended St Michael's Catholic Academy until her junior year when she left to pursue a career in Hollywood. As a teenager she was active in her school's drama department, and she appeared in local commercials and campaigns.
She was raised a Catholic but after her best friend was killed in a car crash when Heard was 16-years-old she declared herself an atheist. Her decision was influenced by the works of Russian-American novelist and philosopher Ayn Rand.
The following year she moved to New York to start a career in modeling and then re-located to Los Angeles to go into acting. She did several television commercials including Saturn Car and Pacific Heat & Electric.
As soon as Amber Heard arrived in Los Angeles she appeared in various television shows, her debut being in 2004 when she was in the series "Jack and Bobby."
She made her movie debut the same year when she was cast as Maria in "Friday Night Lights." Two years later she played the title role in "All the Boys Love Mandy Lane" which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2006.
Her break-through came in 2008 with roles in "Never Back Down" and "Pineapple Express," and the following year she starred in "The Stepfather."
When she is not working she liked to relax with her pint-size toy Yorkshire Terrier Pistol and her partner, but the rising star shows no sign of slowing down. She starred in a new film version of "And Soon The Darkness" which she is also produced, and John Carpenter's "The Ward," alongside Nicolas Cage.
She was thrilled when she beat Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley for the female lead in "The Rum Diary" where she appeared opposite Johnny Depp and Aaron Eckhart. Which through 2012 she was romantically linked with Johnny Depp.
It was an adaptation of Hunter S.Thompson's novel and saw her in the centre of a love triangle of a washed-up, hard-drinking journalist named Paul Kemp in 1950's Puerto Rico and it was filmed on location.
Amber Heard is proficient in American sign language and is also level 3 in Spanish. She is a certified lifeguard and a rock climber and liked nothing more as a child than to go hunting, fishing and camping with her father.
