Amanda Bynes Biography
At the age of 7-years-old she attended a comedy camp, at the age of 13 she had her own variety show, Amanda Bynes is a girl who knows what she wants.
In June 2010 at the age of 24 she announced her retirement from acting as she didn't love it anymore and had stopped doing it. A month later she changed her mind and "unretired."
Bynes is a lady used to changing her mind. When she had started to make a name for herself she left the family home in Thousand Oaks in California and moved into an apartment in Hollywood.
She has since returned to the family home where she had six pets, two dogs Tootsie Roll, a golden retriever, Betty Boop, an Australian Shepherd, three cats Subbie, DC and Tiger, and a fish named Bella.
In 2007 she spoke out against becoming another Hollywood star saying she liked to dance and stuff but "drinking is not good for you in any way, it is not for me. It is not good for your skin and makes you feel horrible." She said her parents had taught her the dangers of alcohol.
She was also known as the "anti-club" girl, after saying "I like being with family and friends and don't need to be out at clubs."
Two years later she has re-evaluated her life and said she has now found the correct balance. "I am now in a phase where I just want to have fun. I will have a drink if I want to and you have to go out to meet people and guys."
In February 2010 Bynes appeared in a lingerie shot on the cover of Maxim magazine, highlighting her photo spread inside. She thinks every shot was sexy and her new look is "Who I really am."
Bynes father is Catholic and her mother Jewish and although she describes herself as Jewish she has not really decided what religion she is yet and she doesn't know exactly what she believes in.
Her first acting role was in an advertisement for Buncha Crunch candles when she was 7-years-old, and she appeared in stage versions of "Annie," "The Secret Garden," "The Music Man" and "The Sound of Music."
After attending acting classes she became a regular cast member of Nickelodeon's "Figure It Out" and "All That" both in 1996 when she was 10, and she remained in that until the show was cancelled in 2006.
Following the cancellation she was given her own sketch show "The Amanda Show", also on Nickelodeon. It was a combination of comical sketches, including Bynes playing Judge Trudy (based on the TV show "Judge Judy") where the judge always rules in favour of the kids.
She made her film debut at the age of 16 in "Big Fat Liar" opposite Frankie Muniz. She also played Penny Pingleton in the film of the Broadway show "Hairspray" and was lined up to reprise the role in "Hairspray 2" but the film was cancelled.
She loves drawing and in 2007 she signed a five year deal with Steve and Barry's to create her own fashion line "Dear". The line would be apparel and accessories and it was launched on August 16th 2007, but it was brought to an abrupt end when Steve and Barry's filed for bankruptcy in 2008, and went out of business completely in June 2009.
In 2010 she played the part of Marianne in the film Easy A alongside fellow actresses Emma Stone, Lisa Kudrow and Alyson Michalka. Once again in September 2012, Amanda Bynes repeated what she said in June 2010 saying that she will once again retire from acting and would instead make a focus on launching her career as a fashion designer.
